Stripping and Waxing
Stripping and waxing is an important part of keeping a floor looking its best. The process involves removing old wax, dirt and debris from the surface, then applying a new layer of wax to protect the floor from wear and tear. Stripping and waxing not only improves the appearance of a floor but also helps keep it in good condition for years to come.
The first step in stripping and waxing is to remove any existing layers of wax, dirt or grime from the floor. This can be done with a scraper or a specialised stripping machine that uses rotating brushes to loosen up the build-up. Once this has been completed, any remaining residue should be vacuumed away before beginning the waxing process.
When selecting a type of wax to use, it is important to consider both durability and shine. A hard-wearing sealant will help prevent damage caused by foot traffic while giving off a beautiful glossy finish. Synthetic emulsions are generally more durable than traditional paste-based products but may require regular re-application due to their shorter lifespan.
Once you have chosen your preferred product, it's time to apply it evenly across the entire floor using either an applicator mop or buffer machine depending on how large the area is. It's essential that all excess product is removed from crevices or corners as this can cause discolouration over time if left unattended.
Finally, buffing should take place once the product has dried fully; this helps create an even sheen across the whole surface that will last for months at a time with proper maintenance such as regular vacuuming and mopping with pH neutral detergents when necessary.
By following these steps correctly, you can ensure your floors look great for many years - making stripping and waxing an integral part of maintaining their healthiness!
